Description
This Velari bit combines the precise effect of the Pelham with the invigorating quality of Sweet Iron and the dynamic cherry rollers into a balanced aid for horse and rider. It is aimed at experienced hands that want to guide a horse with firmness but still with sensitivity. The combination of gentle leverage and natural chewing stimulation creates a soft, attentive connection between rein and mouth.
The Pelham cheek with its short shanks creates a mild leverage that the rider can dose well. Ridden with two reins – or alternatively with a bit converter – this bit offers the flexibility to fine-tune the aids and act precisely depending on the situation. The upper ring connects to the cheekpiece of the bridle, while the lower ring serves as the lever attachment. By using a curb chain the pressure can additionally be stabilised and distributed more evenly – for a balanced and clear signal.
The Sweet Iron mouthpiece changes through the natural oxidation process in use and thus develops a mild, pleasant taste. This property stimulates the horse's saliva production and invites it to accept the bit gently and stay relaxed in the mouth. The result is a softer, more even contact and a calmer, more confident way of going – entirely without artificial additives, only through the working of the material itself.
The cherry-roller bar with its loosely movable rollers contributes decisively to preventing the horse from biting onto the bit or leaning against it. At the same time the rollers stimulate tongue activity, further promote saliva production and help the jaw to release and open. For horses that tend to bolt, like to lean on the bit or have difficulty keeping their attention, this mouthpiece shape is an especially effective support on the way to more relaxation.
Ideal for:
- Horses with a tendency to lean on the bit or push against the hand
- Horses that are easily distracted or have difficulty staying focused
- Horses with good salivation and a receptive mouth that benefit from natural chewing stimulation
- Horses in advanced training that know finely tuned aids
- Experienced riders who can handle two reins securely and differentially
- Riders in disciplines that require precise aids and clear control, such as eventing or advanced dressage
Care & Use
After every ride rinse the bit with warm water and dry with a soft cloth. Store dry and check regularly for even, friction-free wear. Pay attention to the correct positioning: the star must be on the left side, the Velari logo on the right
Note
Every horse and every rider is unique. The information provided serves as a general guide — not as a definitive answer. Always consider your horse's specific needs and your own experience when choosing the right bit. Guide with grace, always
